Is my child guaranteed a spot?
Register early to hold your spot? Priority enrollment is open to former workshop students and ends on March 28.
Do I send in money with the application?
First and full payment is due May 16th. Cancellations after May 16th will forfeit the tuition in full.
Is the workshop in session on July Fourth?
The workshop is IN SESSION Friday July 3 and Monday July 6. This means that we will be filming on those dates. If you plan to be out of town on either of those day, you MUST make the workshop and acting directors aware BEFORE casting on the second day of the workshop, or you child may miss filming his scenes.
How can I get a scholarship?
We are working on arranging financial assistance but cannot guarantee it. If you fill out a scholarship form we will let you know if and when assistance is available. Filling out a scholarship application does not guarantee a spot, however we will do our best.
Scholarship forms should be sent with teacher recommendations and registration materials to:
Young Filmmakers Workshop
Park Camps
PO Box 8200
Brooklandville, MD 21022

Is my child guaranteed a role?
All acting students are cast in the film, and are given lines. We do our utmost to ensure that each student, whether in Acting, Filmmaking, or Art & Design, is given their moment to “shine.”
Will casting be by audition?
In a matter of speaking. Once the acting instructors get to know the students they will be assigned roles.
Will my child have a “big” part?
We try to make sure the roles are evenly distributed, with allowances that some parts will have more lines than others. Our emphasis is on instruction, and how to make a character come to life through legitimate, true acting. Those who “steal” a scene or a movie, you will find, don’t necessarily have the largest roles.
What is the “Stationary Class”?
This is a class that is ongoing at all times, for students to take part when they are not actively filming.
What is the “Documentary Film Lab" ?
This is a two week documentary session taught be Steve Yeager and a second film instructor in which production students will be writing, directing, shooting and editing their own short films
How do I apply for the Film Lab?
Students who have not taken a Young Filmmakers production class should send in a DVD or cd of their work with their application.
